Early Spring Makeup Tutorial

Sigma Makeup Tutorial

Hi everyone! What's up at your end? It feels like early spring at my end - the sun is shining and the snow is melting, and even the air smells like spring. So in my tutorial today I will be showing you how to create the 'Early Spring Makeup'. Let's go!

Sigma Brushes Coupon 2012
1. We start with a clean moisturized face, blotted with a tissue or oil blotting paper to remove excess moisturizer.

2. Now we use makeup primer, foundation and apply concealer under the eyes, around the nose, etc. I use La Prairie Rose Illusion Line Filler, tinted moisturizer from Liz Earle (my shade is Beach 03) and concealer from myface cosmetics (shade 212) . As always we apply lip balm to the lips to moisturize and soften them we work on the eye makeup. Also we need to apply some translucent powder under the eyes as it helps to clean the under eye area in case of shadow fall out.

1. We start with a freshly clean moisturized face, as always.

2. Apply your makeup primer, foundation and use concealer under your eyes, around your nose, etc. I use La Prairie Rose Illusion Line Filler, mineral foundation from Lumiere and concealer from Ultra Pure Cosmetics. Apply lip balm to your lips. It will moisturize and soften your lips while you're doing your eyes. Apply some translucent powder under your eyes so it will be easier to clean your under eye area in case of shadow fall out.

Sweet Valentine's Day Makeup Tutorial (Sigma Flare)

Hi everyone!

Today I'll be showing you how to create a sweet Valentines Day makeup. This look is not overly pink, just light and fresh.
1. First step is a clean moisturized face. Booo!

Stay Tan this Winter: Bronzers, Self-Tanners, Sprays

Ah, Winter - the season of beautiful snowfalls, cute scarves, mittens and adornments. It's also a season that leaves some of us cold, sunless, and helplessly pale. If you want some quick color without the major health risks, skip the tanning beds and lather on some self tanners or bronzers instead. Some simple radiation-less tanning methods include bronzer, gradual self tanner, instant self tanner, and tanning spray.
February 2012
Bronzer, Gradual Self Tanner, Instant Self Tanner

Bronzer
Pros: Instant and immediate color, easy to correct or wipe off.
Cons: Most rub off too easily or are too obviously artificial.
Gradual Self Tanner
Pros: Gradual and usually more natural, easier to maintain through daily use.
Cons: Must use daily or at least very often to maintain color, difficult to see mistakes since the color changes gradually.
Instant Self Tanner
Pros: One application can last several days, many markets for great products.
Cons: Difficult to correct for blotches or mishaps.
Tanning Spray
Pros: A professional can make your tan look natural and can even customize the colors to the contour of your body.
Cons: Salons are costly and it is difficult to spray tan oneself.

Of course, a pro of all of these methods is that there is no risk of skin cancer from radiation like that of the sun or tanning beds. (A con is that most of them smell like chemicals.) If you opt to avoid the sun completely, however, be sure to get your vitamin D supplements.

My thoughts on some sunless tanning products I've used:

Simple Everyday Makeup Tutorial

Hi everyone!

I'm Elena from Endless Summer, and I'm so pleased to be guest posting on Katherine's wonderful blog.Today I'll be showing you how to do everyday makeup. This is my first makeup tutorial ever so I have decided to show you how to do simple yet beautiful makeup, which is suitable for every occasion - from day at school or at work to night out with friends or a romantic dinner with your loved one. It's simple and quick and perfect for those who are new to makeup or for those who needs to simplify their makeup routine.

1. Let's start with a clean moisturized face.

2. Apply your foundation. Use concealer under your eyes, around your nose whereever else you fell necessary. For this tutorial as a foundation I used Luview Real Skin Primer BB Cream and Miracle Skin Transformer Treat And Conceal mixed together to create my own unique shade. I apply this mixture using my fingers. I don't use a concealer on a daily basis, so i skipped this step in my tutorial.

My Dearest Makeup Bags

As part of my initiative to use up all of my old makeup, I've been digging through my closet for cute, yet reasonably sized makeup bags to store my must-use makeup. I know I'm on a makeup ban, but reviewing my old makeup bags makes me realize that I want more of them. Shopping: it's an illness.

Makeup Cases I'm Loving:

Best Makeup Bag
Urban Outfitters Trompe L'oeil Pencil Case
A pencil case, really, but it's chic, cute, adorably tiny and a perfect storage solution for the smaller handbags. I love the France postage on it. The quality, like most cute Urban Outfitters accessories, isn't superb, but it reminds me of the postage accessories line by La Don Don.

On not becoming a makeup hoarder in 2012

As much as I love to shop and spend money on things I don't necessarily need, I'm not as much of a hoarder as I may lead you to believe. I try to use things up - or if not, give them away. I have relatives and friends that are more than willing to take up any beauty products I may not use - and I am more than happy to let go. That said, I have a very difficult time giving up things that I love; and being a beauty blogger, I tend to love a lot of things.
Sigma Coupon Code January 2012

In the past month, I've been very adamant about tossing away expired makeup, using up skincare products, not leaving just that bit of orange juice at the bottom of the container, etc. For the most part, things have worked out well: I am now in less danger of makeup poisoning, I've learned to regularly hydrate and take care of my skin, and my family is a lot less disappointed when opening the fridge. All said and done, I am still unhappy with the enormous about of makeup I tote around. Do I constantly need three bronzers, four blushers,  and several shades of pinky nude lipstick? No, I certainly don't. And here's where my 2012 resolution comes into play.

Makeup Ideas for Girls Who Wear Glasses

Makeup for Glasses

Glasses wearers like to wear fun makeup too. As I have worn glasses for a good part of my life, I get that. It's difficult to not feel a little geeky in glasses sometimes, but here are some good tips that'll keep you looking your best:

Try to use neutral colors and avoid too much glitter or shine. According to Bobbi Brown, "Wearing glasses draws plenty of attention to your eyes, so it’s best to keep your eye makeup simple. Stick to neutral shades on the eyes but remember to blend a darker color into your crease for added definition. Save the bright, bold colors for lips."

How to wear foundation that is too light or dark for you

Most of us have done it: We see a foundation, fall in love and impulsively order it without matching the correct shade. Maybe there is no correct shade or maybe your skin color is drastically different throughout the year. Regardless, here are some things you can do with foundation that is not quite your color:

1. Perhaps the easiest thing to do with a foundation that does not match is to mix it with another one. I mix a good majority of my foundations throughout the year. My Bare Escentuals foundation is way too golden for me, so I brush it over a lot of my warmer foundations.

Birchbox, MyGlam, Loose Button, Glossy Box, Similar Subscription Makeup Samples? The Full List

One of the biggest beauty business trends of the year is the subscription sample makeup box. I'm sure most makeup fanatics have heard of these services. Basically, you can subscribe to these services for a small monthly fee and every month you will receive box of makeup samples.

Most recently, Michelle Phan (most subscribed beauty Youtuber) has come out with a new service called MyGlam. It's not really any different from the rest except that the box arrives at your door at the end of the month instead of the beginning. But wait, isn't the end of one month is the beginning of another? So yes, it is kind of the same.

Holiday Gift Guide: Best Gift Sets 2011

I love gift sets. A beautiful, quality gift set exudes understated chic and class. And what a better way to save while providing your gift recipient with a plethora of great new products to try? Many brands only release gift sets during the holiday, so don't miss out on your chance to sample this season's best.

Give the Gift of Beauty to Others and Yourself

Whether you're looking for presents to gift friends and relatives or something to treat yourself this holiday, beauty products are the way to go if indulgence is your top priority. Here are a few holiday gifts many beauty lovers would enjoy.
Matte Lipstick
Nothing screams festivity more than daringly red lips. Modernize the classic red this year and go matte. Brand name or drugstore, red lipsticks are always stylish. Great matte reds of this season include MAC Russian Red ($14.50), NARS Vesuvio ($25), and Revlon Really Red ($5.00). Or if you are going for double the price, half the matte, but all of the gorgeous, don't miss out on YSL Rouge Volupeté in Red Muse ($34).

Beauty Break Time: Are You Thrifty?

There are less than three weeks until Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. We want to know: How savvy of a shopper are you? Do you check prices and wait for sales before buying, or do you nonchalantly pick up the lipstick on your way to checkout?

Do you snip coupons before hitting the store or search for discount codes before ordering online? If so, how do you find the promotions and deals?

Beauty Break Time: How much eyeliner is too much?

As with all makeup, you can certainly chalk on too much eyeliner. But where do we draw the line between just right and too much? Dramatic smokey eyes and dark kohl liner looks can be seen on runways, magazines, celebrities, and just about everywhere these days. What do you consider acceptable?
