Makeup Favorites and Reviews from Glam Beauty Board

Benefit Brow Zing, Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner, Rimmel London Volume Accelerator Mascara, Urban Decay Eyeshadow, Revlon Matte Lipstick

As a proud member of the Glam Beauty Board, I get the honor of reviewing some of the makeup items handpicked by Glam Media’s Beauty Editor, India-Jewel Jackson. I am thrilled to be a part of this program because I get to join some of the best beauty bloggers in reviewing the latest and trendiest cosmetics. I've been introduced to some great makeup this month and am very excited to share this news with my readers.

Benefit Cosmetics Brow Zing in Dark (for dark brown to black hair)

Benefit Brow Zing contains a great powder and wax combination that glides right on and produces much more natural eyebrows than pencils. I love that it also comes with tweezers, angle brush and blending brush. It truly is the complete brow kit. The best part is that the packaging is so sleek, you can just drop it in your purse and go! As a person with naturally short and choppy eyebrows, I tend to keep a brow pencil and brow brush in my bag if I am going out for a long day. A small compact like this is really convenient to just drop in my purse.

Essie Nail Polish in Midnight Cami

Essie Nail Polish in Midnight Cami is a beautiful shimmering deep twilight blue that is perfect for the fall and coming winter. The blue is deep and classy while the shimmers are vibrant and plentiful.

Rimmel London Volume Accelerator Mascara has a great brush and is extremely darkening. It has a lengthening, thickening, and false lashes kind of effect. It's dramatic (just the way I like it) and not meant for a subtle, natural look. Unfortunately, I am a fan of waterproof and this is no waterproof formula.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in S&M

Urban Decay eyeshadow in S&M  (yes, like that Rihanna song) is an extremely pigmented metallic silver. I am very impressed by the pigmentation of this eyeshadow as metallic shadows tend to be shimmery rather than deeply colored.

Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner has a nice, thick texture, and is very long lasting. The brush it comes with, although not great, works well enough that I would not mind carrying it on-the-go. The eyeliner does not smudge and can make a great winged liner look. Contact wearers should be careful not to get this stuff in their eyes, however. After a long day wear, I rubbed my eyes and had a bit of flake get onto my contact. Not a pretty sight. It was slightly irritating and difficult to wash off my contacts.

And finally, my new personal favorite:

Revlon Matte Lipstick in Really Red

Really red is my new favorite red lipstick.

Really Red is, as its name implies, really red. And I love every bit of it! I have been looking for a good matte lipstick for a while now. Unlike Revlon's Nude Attitude matte lipstick, this one really moisturizing and doesn't emphasize dryness. It isn't a complete matte, but rather lively and catches the light quite well.

Red can be really difficult to wear on a daily basis. How do you like to wear your red lipsticks? Or do you wear them at all?

Disclosure: I received free samples to review as part of the Glam Beauty Board Program. The opinions in this post are my own.

  4. Kayla,
Try visiting a local nail salon or a beauty supply shop. Some places will sell them to you for $5 or less!

  8. Really Red looks ahhhmazing on you! :D
With red lipsticks, wearing them everyday is too much for school. Instead, I dot it lightly on my lips for a light pigmented touch!
