Revision Skincare Intellishade SPF 45 Matte Tinted Moisturizer Review

The Revision Skincare Intellishade SPF 45 Matte is an excellent combination of moisturizer, foundation and sunscreen. It is non-greasy and goes on smoothly without streaking. It did not cause me any breakouts, whiteheads or negative effects like new products tend to. It is a true matte with high SPF coverage. This will surprisingly suit most skin colors well - but with only one shade, it won't do much for really dark or really light skin. The Intellishade technology is supposed to match the color to every skin type, but I think it only works so well because the foundation is sheer.

Moisturizer: It's hard to believe that a matte SPF product can be this moisturizing. I can skip the morning moisturizing and just apply this on straight. It is more moisturizing than both the CoverGirl and Laura Mercier tinted moisturizers. My skin feels almost velvety to the touch with Revision's Intellishade.

Foundation: Its mattifying property is great for oily skin while the moisturizing effect is perfect for dry skin. It offers a light and natural coverage while minimizing pores. It will look and feel like your natural skin, except smoother, softer and more even. It is sheer, so you will have to use a concealer to cover up any big spots. I find this smooth and moisturizing enough to be used as a base. You can go over it with powder or mineral foundation if you want a heavier coverage. If you have very tanned skin, this might be too light for you. If you are ivory pale, this will not match your skin, but will give you a natural tint. Nevertheless, it blends smoothly, evenly and naturally. I have tried this on several spots of my body, ranging from lighter to darker and it surprisingly looks good everywhere.

Sunscreen: This SPF 45 foundation offers both UVA and UVB protection. I always apply extra sunscreen during the summer time, but I don't have to with this. SPF 45 is about as good as it gets for sunscreens. (According to many studies, any coverage over SPF 50 or so is just about the same.) I have looked for sunscreen moisturizers, but they are either not moisturizing enough, makes me look pasty, or breaks me out. The fact that Revision managed to get SPF 45 into a moisturizing foundation is impressive. There is a mild scent of sunscreen when you first apply it.

Wrinkle reducer: I don't have wrinkles yet so I can't say much on that aspect. I have not been using it long enough to notice any reduction in fine/expression lines, though I can see the moisture and SPF protecting my skin from aging. (If anyone has tried this for wrinkle benefits, please tell me how it worked for you.)

This is not cheap as it sells at about $44 for a 1.7 oz tube. I'll shell out the money for a new one once mine runs out, but the upside is that I can save on sunscreen and moisturizer. I use a dime size amount each time, so this will last for a good while.

The biggest downfall to this moisturizer is its lack of availability. Revision Skincare products are sold exclusively through dermatologists, plastic surgeons and medical spas in the US and Japan. You can also find it on Amazon - but at $44, you might want to test it before buying. If you're in the States, ask your dermatologist if they carry the brand (and possibly ask for a sample). Expecting one shade to cover everyone is unfair, no matter how sheer the product or how great the color-matching technology is. People have different skin tones and undertones. It suited my skin, but I hope Revision will branch out and offer a wider variety of shades (even just one or two more might cover everyone). That being said, it surprisingly will match most.

Wearing Revision Skincare Intellishade SPF 45 Matte Tinted Moisturizer

I honestly think this is the perfect summer daytime foundation! I will need to give it more time to see if it is holy grail material, but it is definitely a summer favorite at the moment. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted.
Dislcaimer: This review contains products sent to me for review consideration. As always, everything I write is my honest opinion and I will only recommend something that I wholeheartedly like.
