Collar Necklace Trend and JewelMint Avalon

From runway to sidewalk, collar necklaces are a leading trend. These inspired accessories are popularly sold at local boutiques, department stores, or online at places like Topshop or Etsy. There are literally hundreds of different types of necklaces and collars. Which type do you like the most?

I am personally a fan of the rounded Peter Pan collars, but I find that the edgier collar necklaces work better with different outfits. I just ordered the Avalon Collar Necklace from JewelMint. I don't really like to wear these types of necklace on my bare skin, so I would probably use it to add some dimension to plain tees and blouses.

The collar necklace look wasn't too popular when it was first introduced, but now it looks to be popular with young teens and adults alike. It seems like this trend may stick around for another few seasons. What do you think of it? Tried it and loved it? Or simply don't care for it?

Three Things: Custom Palettes, Luffas and JewelMint

I depotted some of my eyeshadows earlier this week and cracked a good few. I squished them, both rectangular and round, into an old Physicians Formula palette and ta-da: my own custom travel palette consisting of Nvey eyeshadows (which I reviewed here) and Physicians Formula matte eyeshadows. I just got sick of "netural" palettes being either too plain or way too glittery.

I have been in love with my loofah/luffa sponge as of late. If you didn't know, luffas are made from from the luffa plant. If you're up to it, Wandering Chopsticks demonstrates how to make a good luffa sponge.

This natural Loofah sponge is grown and sold by the Luffa Farm. How cute is that?

When I received my Setting Sun necklace, I was afraid. Afraid it would be too big, too gaudy, too costume-y, too much. When I realized how well it paired with a plain sweater, it became a personal favorite. Now I've broken it and lost the piece it came with too. It's amazing how losing one little piece of the necklace ruins it completely.

JewelMint Tailor Made Earrings (or scissors in my ears)

Another month, another JewelMint purchase. As my JewelMint boxes are piling high, I am trying to reduce it to just one pick a month. I think I made the perfect choice with my August pick. I almost skipped these earrings because they looked so normal at first glance. When I saw it on the model, I knew I had to get it. This set comes with four pairs of earrings and look great on my double piercings. These have definitely become a part of my jewelry staple.

The scissors are my favorite earrings!

As we're on the subject the Mint family: I really, really like the StyleMint shirt I ordered last month. Really. It's surprising, but it actually looks so good on and was so flattering that I took the chance and ordered another t-shirt from them. I got the "No is a full sentence" shirt, but it was quite meh. The August selection does not look great either. I guess the StyleMint Melrose tee was a one hit wonder kind of thing.

Official JewelMint Addict

Just sharing some of my recent JewelMint purchases. And I just ordered three more yesterday. (I know this is getting a little out of hand, but please bare with my little addiction.)

JewelMint Sea Breeze Earrings

I'm showing you another JewelMint purchase. I've been rather obsessed with them lately and bought about four new sets. I'll do a separate post on all of my JewelMint purchases.

I didn't get JewelMint's Sea Breeze Earrings when it first came out because I thought it looked rather cheap. It wasn't until it was sold in a set with the Midas ring (2 for 1 special) that I bought it. Boy, am I glad I did because it is now my favorite pair of earrings. I like it even more than my beloved Oyster Earrings.

On a totally unrelated note, mosquitoes are destroying me this summer! Right after I took this picture, a giant mosquito bit my face. I had a bite on my leg yesterday that swelled up to the size of quarter. Why me?

JewelMint Tulum Bracelets and Windsor Set

JewelMint made up for last month with an impressive selection for June. I bought two sets this month. I love the fact that a lot of their jewelry are coming in sets now instead of the usual one-piece.

Two new sets for my growing JewelMint collection.

I like these Tulum bracelets more than I thought I would - though the quality is subpar.

The color on the colorful bead bracelet actually stained my skin. :(

The bracelet of the Windsor set looks like a fancy watch.

The earrings are actually lockets!

I am a sucker for nice packaging. Or maybe I am a hoarder.

Did you get anything from their June collection? (StyleMint is going to be up soon!)

Mail from Lovemode, JewelMint, Montagne Jennesse

I was ecstatic this morning when I woke up to these fun packages!

My JewelMint jewelry set finally arrived!

They came in one box this time - with an extra description note in an envelope.

I bought these because they were on a 2 for 1 special... I don't think I would ever have bought them otherwise. The Jagger Earrings were a little disappointing.

The Golden Goose Bracelet was very nice though!

I love that special dazzled up jewel!

Larger than I would've liked, but cute nonetheless.

Here is a preview of the cute Lovemode dress. Keep your eyes out for a review and giveaway!

I received these amazing Montagne Jeunesse face mask.

The Montagne Jeunesse masks smell so delicious that I almost feel like eating them. I can't wait to try one out tonight! I will write up a thorough review once I've tried them out. Delicious smelling and natural: I have a good feeling about these. I love face masks and have been wearing a lot of them to moisturize my skin and to give me that healthy glow. The extra moisture really helps to control my oil, which in turn prevents breakouts.

I have been using this Erosa Gold Crystal Collagen Mask lately, but I am running out. My mom bought them when she was in Asia, so once I'm out there is no getting more. These collagen masks are a pain to open and to work with, but they are pretty moisturizing. I'm concerned about the "skin whitening" effect it claims to have though. I personally don't like anything whitening because I feel like they weaken the skin. I have not seen any whitening so I can only assume they're exaggerating. To be safe though, I never wear these before sun exposure.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping the Montagne Jeunesse masks are good. They are affordable, smell wonderful and they never test on animals! I will definitely keep everyone updated.

Disclaimer: I bought the JewelMint jewelry myself. The Montagne Jeunesse masks and Lovemode dress were sent to me for review consideration. I am not being paid for this post. Per usual, everything is my honest opinion.

Jewelmint Aqua Bomb Ring

There was nothing in it for me this month at Jewelmint so I bought this re-released Aqua Bomb ring. And I'm glad I did, because it is sold out again.

It came in an aqua-ish box instead of black. How cute!

I always adore the personal descriptions.

JewelMint Kate Bosworth
It looks so good on Kate Bosworth!

This is the third item I bought from Jewelmint and I have to say that I'm pretty satisfied with my selection. I never bought their recommended-for-you jewelry and instead opted to pick my own every time. I know myself best and I'm pretty darn proud of it. :) [Click here to see my other Jewelmint selections.]

Sideway cross necklace
I bought this sideways cross necklace from Lily Lawson on etsy.

It's a really subtle, barely-there kind of jewelry that I can wear daily.

I was not going to continue with Jewelmint, but I couldn't resist the ring. It is so cute and unique that it really stood out to me. I ordered it in a size 7 to wear on my middle finger, but it was still a little loose. They still have a few in stock, so I say size down if you are going to get it.

I received my necklace from Lily Dawson within two days of placing my order. She even customized the chain from 16" to 15" for me free of charge. At $26 with $3 shipping, the necklace is a little less than Jewelmint jewelry. Thanks Lily!

Disclaimer: I bought everything myself. Honest opinions as always.

JewelMint Oyster Earrings

Lovely gold oyster earrings from Jewelmint's January selection.

I love the unique yet classy design. Fancy jewelry with a little bit of edge.

The packaging is fancy and gorgeous!

They use the same packaging for all their jewelry.

Designed by Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter.

Jewelmint is an online jewelry service created by actress Kate Bosworth and celebrity stylist Cher Coulter. When you sign up, you take a quiz to determine your style and then they personalize jewelry for you (you can always pick things yourself though). Every item costs $29.99.

What I dislike about Jewelmint is that you need to be a member to purchase anything. This means that they will continue charging you and sending you jewelry monthly if you do not take initiative and contact them. While some of their items are exquisite and beautiful, some can be tacky. Their shipping and customer service are amazing though. I bought my jewelry and closed membership without hassle.

I might reopen my membership with them in the future. I love jewelry and they have great services and some wonderful designs. Unlike other membership-based sites, JewelMint is simple, honest and was a pleasure to shop.
