Sugar Bean Obsessed: Kardashian Approved

I am still waiting on Boutique to You to stock the smaller sizes of the Sugar Bean Love Ring. As I have been continuously browsing through the Sugar Bean Jewelry line, I've become obsessed with their cute little designs. Sure, most of these are inspired by designer jewelry, but the prices on these inspired pieces are so much more affordable that I can totally excuse the lack of creativity.

JewelMint Tailor Made Earrings (or scissors in my ears)

Another month, another JewelMint purchase. As my JewelMint boxes are piling high, I am trying to reduce it to just one pick a month. I think I made the perfect choice with my August pick. I almost skipped these earrings because they looked so normal at first glance. When I saw it on the model, I knew I had to get it. This set comes with four pairs of earrings and look great on my double piercings. These have definitely become a part of my jewelry staple.

The scissors are my favorite earrings!

As we're on the subject the Mint family: I really, really like the StyleMint shirt I ordered last month. Really. It's surprising, but it actually looks so good on and was so flattering that I took the chance and ordered another t-shirt from them. I got the "No is a full sentence" shirt, but it was quite meh. The August selection does not look great either. I guess the StyleMint Melrose tee was a one hit wonder kind of thing.

JewelMint Sea Breeze Earrings

I'm showing you another JewelMint purchase. I've been rather obsessed with them lately and bought about four new sets. I'll do a separate post on all of my JewelMint purchases.

I didn't get JewelMint's Sea Breeze Earrings when it first came out because I thought it looked rather cheap. It wasn't until it was sold in a set with the Midas ring (2 for 1 special) that I bought it. Boy, am I glad I did because it is now my favorite pair of earrings. I like it even more than my beloved Oyster Earrings.

The woven rope design features frayed ends and a series of three knots.

On a totally unrelated note, mosquitoes are destroying me this summer! Right after I took this picture, a giant mosquito bit my face. I had a bite on my leg yesterday that swelled up to the size of quarter. Why me?

Lovely gold oyster earrings from Jewelmint's January selection.

I love the unique yet classy design. Fancy jewelry with a little bit of edge.

The packaging is fancy and gorgeous!

They use the same packaging for all their jewelry.

Designed by Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter.

Jewelmint is an online jewelry service created by actress Kate Bosworth and celebrity stylist Cher Coulter. When you sign up, you take a quiz to determine your style and then they personalize jewelry for you (you can always pick things yourself though). Every item costs $29.99.

What I dislike about Jewelmint is that you need to be a member to purchase anything. This means that they will continue charging you and sending you jewelry monthly if you do not take initiative and contact them. While some of their items are exquisite and beautiful, some can be tacky. Their shipping and customer service are amazing though. I bought my jewelry and closed membership without hassle.

I might reopen my membership with them in the future. I love jewelry and they have great services and some wonderful designs. Unlike other membership-based sites, JewelMint is simple, honest and was a pleasure to shop.

Handmade Gold-Filled Earrings

I have extremely sensitive ears that usually can't handle earrings less than gold-filled. I love the cheap fashion earrings from Forever 21 and local stores as much as the next girl, but my ears usually won't tolerate those earrings for more than a few hours. They become irritated and itchy and that is just unacceptable.

Recently, I have been searching for cute, affordable earrings that won't irritate my ears. I mostly search on Etsy, but cute gold-filled post earrings are not easy to find. Some had gold-filled posts but not backs or vice-versa. Some are too expensive for my liking. I want to change my earrings up a bit, you know. I can't get stuck with an expensive pair I have to wear year after year. Then I thought, why not make my own?

A friend of mine had mentioned that fusionbeads offers free delivery for US orders with no minimum. I snooped around the site and added a few items to my cart. I have never shopped here before, so I was very picky (aka cheap) about my order.

Some items I spotted on fusionbeads.com

The post pins and backs are both gold-filled so they will not bother my oh-so-sensitive ears. As for the body of the earring, I chose a gold-plated design to cut the cost. I figure it would not come in contact with my pierced ear much with the flat pin in the way and all. It totals up to $5.92. Now all I have to do is use the glue gun to put it all together.

I may look around at other websites for other designs for my custom earrings. I could even use a few old buttons. My options are nearly unlimited at this point. I am super excited and will keep you updated once I make my earrings.

*Notes for your reference
In the US, the gold content in any gold-filled jewelry must be at least 1/20 the weight of the total item. For items labeled gold plated, the item is plated in gold without a limit to the thickness or thinness of the gold plating. Needless to say, gold-filled jewelry will last much longer than gold plated ones.
