Just last month, I made a brief post about monthly makeup subscription services, admitting that I have never subscribed to one. Frequent reader and fellow blogger, Jojo, voiced her curiosity in Julep Maven. As a beauty addict, I was quite curious about the program myself. And later that week, by chance or by miracle, I was offered a chance to try the Julep Maven starter box myself. Now let's dive into the goodies. (For photographic purposes, I contained my excitement and prevented myself from tearing the packaging to bits.)
The package is delivered securely in a red cardboard box. Inside is the kit wrapped in a holiday-themed bag with a ribbon and card. I have a soft spot for anything wrapped with a ribbon as it feels like a gift with a personal touch.
Julep Maven Kit contains: Glycolic Hand Scrub, Nail Glitter, Nail Varnishes in Nicole and Whitney and sample packets of Hand Cream and Hand Brightener.
The first thing I noticed upon opening the package was how beautiful the nail polish bottles were! I could hardly believe they included two full sized bottles - and of such beautiful colors. Each polish retails for $14.00, yet Julep sends out these Julep Maven boxes for just $19.99/month. That sounds like a pretty good deal already; then throw in the hand scrub, glitter and sample packets. To be honest, I am no fan of nail glitters, but these came just in time for the holidays, when I might want to spruce things up a little. I do like everything included in the package, but the nail polishes definitely made this a success!
I can't believe I have never tried Julep nail polishes before. I have not been this impressed with nail polishes for a long, long time. The consistency is much smoother than Essie polishes - and the applicator lies flat and applies evenly.
