Wear Sunglasses to Suit Your Face Shape

Sunglasses for Round Faces: If your cheeks are full and you have a rounded chin with few angles in the face, you should consider a more angular glass that will give your face dimension. Round faces have proportional width and height, so you want to wear rectangular and oblong sunglasses to elongate and make your face look thinner and longer.

Sunglasses for Oblong Faces: For the face that is longer than it is wide, with a long nose, high cheekbones, and tall forehead. Use a tall frame or rim to make your face look shorter or more rounded.

Sunglasses for your faceSunglasses for Oval Faces: Similar the round faces, but usually accompanied by high cheekbones with balanced proportions. Most sunglasses will suit oval faces. Consider rectangular or abstract sunnies that can add angles to soft curves of your face.

Sunglasses for Square Faces: Square faces are strong, with defined lines. Soften the angles with round or oval frames. Look for sunglasses with defined temples.

Sunglasses for Diamond Faces: Large at the top sunglasses, cat eye looks, and aviators, will all look nice for diamond faces.

Sunglasses for Heart Faces: Broad forehead and wide cheek bones that narrow into a smaller chin. Many glasses will suit the wide cheek bones and tiny chin heart face, but bottom-heavy sunglasses will add a nice width to the lower face.

Don't forget, June 27th is National Sunglasses Day! Wear your favorite sunglasses proudly, regardless of face shape and rules. They shield your eyes from UV rays and make you look and feel pretty awesome.

Reversing Skin Damage: Defeating Summer Sun

You can't go back in time or relive your youth, but you can most certainly tend to your skin, prevent further damage, and treat premature lines and skin damage.

The sun is well known as the primary cause of skin damage in people. So how do you enjoy the summer sun without the summer sun damage to your skin? There are tricks to not only prevent, but reverse some of those premature lines. Remember to protect, not neglect. To simplify, you protect with sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, or other forms of physical barriers. Cleanse thoroughly and moisturize to nourish and hydrate the skin.

Some tips for applying sunscreen: apply every 2 hours or more often if you sweat or get wet. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection. You need to use a minimum of SPF30. Anything under SPF30 is not good enough protection and anything over SPF50 protects only as much as SPF50 anyway. Do not waste your money on SPF80 or the likes.

Avoiding the afternoon sun when your shadow is larger than you. If you drive for extended hours, sunscreen will not be sufficient to protect you. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation Journal, there is a strong correlation between the amount of time driving in a car and the severity of sun induced skin damage on the driver’s left side of the face. This damage includes “wrinkles, leathering, sagging, brown ‘age’ spots and even skin cancers.” Remember the driver whose sun aged face looks drastically different on each side?

In addition to sunscreen, which must be reapplied at least every 2 hours, you should consider using a window film for your car window. Window films can block harmful UVA rays that can lead to premature aging, wrinkles, and skin cancer. They don't have to hurt the wallet or make your car ugly.  Clear and affordable film options are available.

By just taking care of your skin and avoiding adding additional stress to it, you will notice not only a decrease in damage, but in existing fine lines.

Fashion Friday: Kicks and Dresses

A favorite fashion do is kicks and dresses. Pair your dress with your favorite tennis shoes, loafers, converse, vans, keds, whatever. The kicks play down the dress for a more casual vibe.

Three Beauty Packages in the Mail

It has been a long time since I've posted the contents of my mailbox or shared a 3-things post. And here they are: not quite a haul, but times are simple.

First up is the Maybelline ColorSensational Color Elixir Lip Color. Grand in all it's beauty. Maybelline's ColorSensational lip colors are extremely moisturizing, pigmented, and glossy for its value. They come in twenty shades, but I knew I had to buy the Breathtaking Apricot shade.
